Write for Us
We welcome clear, original pitches about the food cultures of cities: their markets, neighborhood traditions, street food, dishes and ways of gathering. Bring a distinct question and a thoughtful sense of place.
What makes a strong pitch
Tell us the subject, the central idea and why it matters to readers. A strong proposal has a specific angle, enough context to explain its scope and a clear way into the story. We welcome reported proposals and carefully shaped essays, but do not send confidential material or claim access you cannot provide.
Writing with care
Use plain, precise language and explain terms readers may not know. Treat food customs and communities with context; avoid sweeping claims about a cuisine or treating one person's experience as everyone's. Pitches should be original and disclose any relevant commercial connection.
How to propose a story
Send your proposal through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a working title, a short outline and a brief note about your approach. Please send a pitch rather than a completed article unless we have agreed otherwise.
